Programme/Sector: Western Ghats landscape
Expected travel: Up to 50%, as required to field sites and to coordinate with Field Staff
India is home to the largest global population of the Asian Elephant. Since more than 60% of their range occurs outside Protected Areas, there are serious issues related to negative interactions between people and elephants. WCS-India has a history of conducting valuable and integrated elephant research and conservation implementation. Given that many of our projects occur in elephant landscapes, we are looking for a researcher who can start an elephant-specific programme that also has a strong human dimension component. The work would be focussed on the Western Ghats landscape. The post will involve field and office work, based in Bangalore.
