About the Coalition for Wildlife Corridors
The Coalition for Wildlife Corridors (CWC) is an alliance of conservation NGOs working together for conservation of wildlife corridors (https://corridorcoalition.org/). At CWC, we recognize the critical importance of protecting and restoring wildlife corridors to maintain landscape connectivity for India’s biodiversity. Rooted in evidence-based approaches, we strive to support the monitoring, management, protection, and long-term security of wildlife corridors, while maintaining and enhancing landscape integrity across India.
CWC is a collective effort to ensure that habitat connectivity is prioritised as a core element of conservation. We work across organisational boundaries to build and work towards a shared conservation vision.
Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive, organised, and collaborative CWC Coordinator to lead and support the coordination of our growing network. The Coordinator will work closely with the Steering Committee, working groups, and coalition members to advance CWC’s strategic vision and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
This role requires a combination of connectivity conservation knowledge, stakeholder engagement,
project management, and communication skills.
Overall, the Coordinator will lead and support progress across the Coalition’s six strategic objectives:
- Maintain a comprehensive and dynamic repository for data on corridors in India
- Co-design and undertake coordinated advocacy for corridor conservation
- Develop, share and standardise approaches to corridor planning, connectivity design and monitoring
- Broaden partnerships and dialogue by engaging diverse sectors, partners, and communities to mainstream corridor conservation and build widespread support.
- Work to affirm implementation efforts of partner organisations through knowledge sharing, site visits, learning and external profiling
- Raise funds and create new opportunities to work together on connectivity conservation
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Coalition Coordination & Strategic Implementation
- Coordinate and work closely with the steering committee, working groups and CWC members to advance the Coalition for Wildlife Corridor’s mission and goals.
- Support the development of an Annual Workplan by aligning current grants, commitments, and strategic priorities to ensure meaningful progress toward the CWC’s vision and objectives.
- Lead the implementation of the Annual Workplan, in collaboration with the Steering Committee, working groups, and broader membership.
- Ensure effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of all CWC activities and initiatives.
- Promote collaboration, negotiation, and problem-solving across the CWC.
2. Governance Support
- Support effective functioning of the Steering Committee by coordinating regular meetings, co-developing agendas, and tracking follow-up actions.
- Provide support to working group leads as needed, and lead working groups, when relevant
- Work collaboratively with the Steering Committee to manage program goals and align CWC work with strategic priorities.
3. Communication & Engagement
- Serve as the main point of contact for all CWC inquiries and communications.
- Disseminate timely updates, news, and opportunities to CWC members.
- Develop and manage internal and external communication tools, including:
- CWC e-newsletters (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.)
- Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, YouTube, etc.)
- Coordinating development of CWC-branded materials (infographics, posters, resource cards, etc.), when needed
4. Meetings
- Organise and facilitate quarterly online meetings of the CWC.
- In collaboration with the Steering Committee, plan and execute bi-annual meetings and other key coalition events.
- Support working group leads, as needed, in organising and coordinating working group meetings.
5. Membership & Network Development
- Maintain a diverse and engaged membership base, including:
- Responding to membership queries and applications.
- Managing email lists and member databases.
- Supporting member participation in working groups and activities.
6. Fundraising & Financial Oversight
- In collaboration with the steering committee and coalition members, lead the development of grant proposals to secure funding for connectivity conservation from identifying opportunities to drafting and submitting proposals.
- Prepare and submit grant reports as required.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to support the management of the network’s finances, including assisting with annual budgeting and financial reporting, in collaboration with the Steering Committee as needed.
7. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare reports, policy briefs, presentations, meeting notes, and other documents as needed.
- Ensure the CWC’s administrative systems support transparency, accountability, and effective communication.
- Perform other duties as required that align with the mission and values of the CWC.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s degree with ~5 years of experience or a PhD with ~2 years of experience in Conservation Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience, expertise, or a strong understanding of connectivity conservation principles and practices
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Experience in coordination, grant writing, project management, and stakeholder engagement within the conservation or environmental sector
- Proficiency with digital communication platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, social media, collaborative tools).
