Counter Wildlife Trafficking - Training Schedules that we offer

A primary objective of WCS’ Counter Wildlife Trafficking program is to partner with government agencies to build capacity to improve detection, investigation and prosecution of wildlife crimes. From December 2018 - March 2021, WCS has organized 66 workshops on wildlife crime detection, investigation, evidence collection, and court procedure across 14 agencies in 17 states of India, and helped train approximately 5000 enforcement staff in counter wildlife trafficking techniques. We have a series of different modules, delivered by experts, specifically developed to support enforcement efforts to curb trafficking of protected wildlife species. Our trainings cover a host of topics including legal frameworks to investigate wildlife trade, relevant provisions of laws such as the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972, and Customs Act, 1962, legal documentation, trial procedure, identification of commonly trafficked wildlife, their parts and products, including marine wildlife, intelligence networks, common modus operandi, and trade routes and hotspots.

To schedule a workshop, please contact us via email at cwt@wcsindia.org/ send a letter at the address here.

Sample modules are attached below. We can revise the modules based on specific requirements of individual departments.
