Role Overview
The Communications and Project Coordinator will support the Project Lead in the implementation of a collaborative project aimed at addressing human–wildlife conflict through stakeholder engagement, capacity-building, and outreach. The person in this role will be responsible for project coordination, communications, and operational tasks to ensure the effective and timely execution of project activities.
This is an early career position. A degree or experience in the field of wildlife is not necessary for this role. The candidate requires strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently while maintaining close coordination with team members and partners.
The position will be based in Mumbai, and the candidate will operate primarily in a remote working arrangement. The selected candidate will be required to travel within and outside Mumbai for meetings with the Project Lead, and to support project activities and stakeholder engagements.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of all project activities necessary for effective implementation of the project.

Manage day-to-day operational requirements, including logistical arrangements for venues, travel, accommodation, and preparation of materials.

Coordinate with local partners, volunteers, and resource persons to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.

Provide timely progress updates and assist in preparing project reports, documentation, and communication materials for internal and external purposes.

Support outreach and visibility efforts, including contributing to social media content and other communication platforms.

Maintain clear communication channels within the project team and ensure effective coordination with WCS-India office in Bengaluru.

Undertake travel within and outside Mumbai as required to facilitate project activities, stakeholder interactions, and organisational meetings, including occasional travel to Bengaluru.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience

Bachelor's or master's degree in any relevant field.
This position does not require a degree in wildlife or environmental studies; however, a demonstrated interest in wildlife and a basic knowledge of conservation will be advantageous.

1 to 3 years of experience in project coordination, communications, and outreach.
Experience in organising events and basic design and communications skills is desirable.
Other Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with good proficiency in Marathi and Hindi.

Effective coordination and organisational abilities, with attention to detail and time management.

Basic understanding of wildlife, conservation issues, and human–wildlife conflict.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and sound report writing skills.

Basic knowledge of preparing communication materials, reports, or social media content; familiarity with basic design tools will be preferred.

Willingness to travel to project locations and the ability to adapt to basic field conditions.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Remuneration
The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
