Big cat biologist and the Executive Director, Big Cats Program at the Wildlife Conservation Society, Luke Hunter met with Daasi, the “Super Farmer” and Basappa at the WCS-India head office in Bangalore.
Daasi and Basappa were the beneficiaries who relocated from Nagarahole National Park, over 10 years ago. Daasi also got to interact with Ms. Prakriti Srivastava, IFS, Country Director WCS-India, and thanked her for all the support WCS-India has provided them over the years. Luke was also briefed on the Voluntary relocation of people from protected areas, which WCS-India advocates.
Daasi and Basappa were in Bangalore to receive an award at Krishimela 2019. They won the “District Level Progressive Farmer Woman Award” and “Taluk Level Progressive Young Farmer Award” respectively.
Daasi has also received awards from HD Kote Agriculture Department and Vijaya Karnataka in the past.
