On the 6th of March, our Lesser Florican team organised the Khadmore/Phudakadya (lesser florican) Ceremony in collaboration with the Pratapgarh Forest Division, Rajasthan.
Pratapgarh Range Officer, Shri. Dhara Singh Ranawat, presided as the chief guest.
Members from the Rajasthan Forest Department, the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), the Foundation for Ecological Security (FES), the local community and our team spoke about the immediacy for and the importance of protecting the lesser florican.
A photo exhibition of birds found in Pratapgarh district, photographed by our village watchers, was also organised for the community. A local group of artists informed people about forests and birds through their cultural performances.
The event culminated in a fruitful interaction among all participants on conservation measures needed for the protection of this critically endangered bird.
