Following fruitful discussions with Dr. Sivakumar (Scientist F, Department of Endangered Species Management, Wildlife Institute of India) on the 19th of October 2019, WCS-India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Wildlife Institute of India (WII).
The purpose of the MoU is to facilitate collaborative work between WCS-India and WII to further marine conservation in India. Both the organisations aim to jointly address and initiate activities for the management of threatened species and habitats including notifying marine protected areas in India, while also building capacity of stakeholders and conducting training workshops to aid in this aspect.
